“Setting the Standard in 2010”
From the Desk of the Commodore

Fellow boating enthusiast,

Here’s to health, happiness and a new beginning to the 2010 boating season! Now that the holidays are behind us and the days getting a bit longer, with a few warm days thrown in, if you’re like me, you’re already thinking about getting the boat ready for another season. I’m pleased to serve as the Commodore for 2010. My wife Theresa and I have been boating on the bay for longer than I can remember. Boating has been a way of life for us with many life-long memories captured on the water. The Chesapeake Bay is a wonderful treasure that still has much to explore and take pleasure in.

We have a seasoned, dedicated group of yacht club officers that are looking forward to enriching your boating experience and fostering new friendships on the water this season. Our club can only exist through the growth of our membership. To the past club members, we appreciate your participation and hope we can count on your support with a renewal of your membership in 2010. To our new members, we welcome you and hope that you enjoy the benefits and camaraderie our club has to offer. All of our events last year were a great success, culminated by our “members’ only event” at Herrington Harbour South. In addition to our social events, the yacht club offers several other benefits that include: savings on fuel at the marina, education events, discounts at marine supply stores and restaurants, and membership in CBYCA.

Enclosed is the new simplified 2010 membership form to be completed and returned. Please fill out the form, which will also serve as the return mailer for your check. The form contains the events for 2010 and the names and contact information for the officers. You will notice that we have raised dues this year to $100.00. The reason for the increase is so we can offer our popular “members’ only event” every year vs. every other year. This year’s event, planned for Mears Kent Island, though tough to top Herrington Harbour, will be another spectacular event. Our Fleet Captain, Nancy Shepherd, has a surprise for that Friday night that you’re not going to want to miss! I encourage you to get your forms in as early as possible. Keep an eye out for your event form to be emailed once you’ve returned your membership application. When you receive the event form, select the cruise events that you plan on attending. Some events will have limited space, so be sure to get your forms in early.

Thank you again for supporting the Summit North Yacht Club. Lets all have a great season that is safe, full of good times, with fuel prices that are easy on the wallet, and lots of lasting memories.

Sincerely,
Bob Cedzo
Commodore
